Christmas time is here. And that small-but-mighty Charlie Brown Christmas tree can always capture hearts this time of year.
Since 1965, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” has resonated with generations of families celebrating the holiday. But you won’t find the classic on TV in 2022.
The iconic 25-minute special will not air on broadcast TV this year, but you can stream it on Apple TV+.
Apple TV+ subscribers can watch “A Charlie Brown Christmas” – along with other holiday specials featuring Charles Schulz’s beloved Peanuts – on demand all year long.
For those who don’t have Apple TV+, the platform has provided multiple-day windows for non-subscribers to watch these programs for free.
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be available for free from Dec. 22 to Dec. 25.

When Charlie Brown holiday specials stop airing on TV?
When “A Charlie Brown Christmas” was released in 1965, it originally aired on CBS – and later moved to other networks. In 2020, all Charlie Brown films moved exclusively to Apple TV+ after Apple bought the rights to the franchise in 2018.
Three Peanuts holiday specials – “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” – returned to public TV last year on PBS. Some hoped that the programs would stay on public TV this year, but PBS said in a September tweet that it didn’t have the rights to distribute any Peanuts specials this year.

“Regretfully, PBS does not have the rights to distribute the Peanuts specials this year,” the PBS Kids Twitter account wrote Sept. 29. “We’ll all have to watch for the Great Pumpkin in a different pumpkin patch this Halloween.”
